Hello Friends,

are you ready for spring yet? This week has felt like it actually might be coming soon! It warmed up to 0 degrees C, which feels like so warm after having -35 for weeks! I can’t wait to make all the spring hats and to dress up the girls and actually make their hair! (Without having the full snow gear wreck it all! LOL)

So, in the spirit of spring coming soon, here is your new hat pattern: The Livia!

The Livia features a beautiful swirl, with a cute flower on the top. It is simple to make, with only single crochet stitches, and can easily be adjusted by adding or removing increase rows. Use 100% cotton sport weight yarn to make this perfect breathable Spring hat! I love them for accessorizing outfits. 

All the sizes are written out individually for easy reading. Find your size below:

Sizes:                                                             Finished Measurements:

Toddler (18-19” head circumference)            17” width/ 7” length

Child (20-21” head circumference)                19” width/ 7.5” length

Adult (22-23” head circumference)              21” width/ 8” length

 

Materials:

Yarn: Sport weight; Sample was made with Schachenmayr Catania (100% Cotton) (137 yards/50g) in color 244 “Agave” (2 skeins for all sizes)

Hooks: D/3.25mm

Other: Darning needle to weave in ends

 

Gauge: 10sc & 12 rows/2”

 

Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain

St(s) – Stitch(es)

Slst – Slip Stitch

Sp – Space

Sc – Single Crochet

Rev.sc – Reversed Single Crochet

Pm – Place Marker

 

Reversed Single Crochet: Worked just like a Single Crochet, except going towards the right instead of left of fabric. The Rev.sc in worked “backwards”. 

Instructions:

 

Toddler:

Base Ring: Ch5, join to first ch with slst

Round 1: (Ch6, 1sc into ring) 6 times, slst into first 3 chains of first space of this round.

Round 2: (Ch4, 1sc into next ch-6 sp) 6 times, work last sc into last slst before 1st ch-4 sp.

Round 3: (Ch4, 2sc into next ch-4 sp, 1sc into next sc) 6 times.

    After this round, PM into first ch of the round and keep moving it up as you go.

Round 4: (Ch4, 2sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 2 sc) 6 times.

Round 5: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 3 sc) 6 times.

Round 6: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 4 sc) 6 times.

Round 7: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 5 sc) 6 times.

Round 8: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 6 sc) 6 times.

Round 9: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 7 sc) 6 times.

Round 10: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 8 sc) 6 times.

Round 11: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 9 sc) 6 times.

Round 12: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 10 sc) 6 times.

Round 13: (Ch4, 2 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 11 sc) 6 times.

Round 14: (Ch4, 1 sc into next ch-4 sp, sc into next 11) 6 times.

 

Repeat round 14 until hat measures almost 7”.

Repeat round 18 until hat measures almost 8”.

ALL SIZES:

 

Finishing round: Ch1, (rev.sc into stitch to the right) around, putting 4 rev.sc into ch-4 sp.

At the end of the round, cut yarn and thread yarn end through needle. Put needle from front to back into first st of the round (pic1). Put needle from front to back again but through last stitch of the round (pic 2). You should have a neat invisible join now, and can secure/weave in all ends (pic 3).
