SLPCo Lydia’s Leotard and Dress

If you like the Simple Life Pattern Lydia Leotard, you will love the Lydia add-on! It gives you all the beauty of the leotard bodice, but with shirt and dress looks. Together, these two patterns are truly versatile and give you lots of options.

The patch pocket and ruffle screamed “farm girl” to me, so this is what we went for. Somehow, this meant mixing and matching fabrics…. Just making it with one knit fabric would definitely have saved some time, though.

Does anyone else have deciding issues when it comes to choosing fabric? It took me three full days to finally decide on fabric for this dress, which I made up in one afternoon! Three precious sewing/crocheting days wasted! Sure I did crochet while “thinking” about my fabrics. Then I kept going back and forth, putting stuff together, thinking and more thinking…. ridiculous, I know. Tell me I am not the only one!

On another note, the fact that this was done in a day tells you it is a super quick pattern to work up. I am not a fast seamstress by any means and like to take my time.

The knit for the bodice is Birch Organics and the quilting cotton for the skirt from Fabric Snob. The patch pockets were made out of a fat quarter I had from Art Gallery Fabrics. A true fabric mash up scrap buster if ever I saw one!

So, the Lydia:

  • She comes with loads of options, which is super nice
  • She can be made in knit, or a knit/woven combo, like mine
  • The add on is a different pattern, not just an extended skirted leotard.

We chose patch pockets, ruffled gathered dress, and sash with a bow. Also a deep back without ruffle. I felt the ruffle on the back would have been to much with the bow.

I like that this looks more like an outfit than a dress, and Miss P. is in love with it! She digs mix and match stuff.
